Jon Voight is a successful actor and director with a flourishing career spanning almost six decades. He has appeared in many movies in the sixties, seventies and eighties, including Midnight Cowboy (1969), Deliverance (1972) and Coming Home (1978). In 2010 he won an Oscar for Best Actor category in the movie "Ray", based on the life of Ray Charles. In 1938 Jon Voight was born as Jonathan Vincent Voight to Frances Margaret and Elmer Ellsworth Voight who worked at a steel mill. When Jonathan turned 18 years old, he joined the United States Army serving two tours of duty before being honorably discharged due to medical reasons after suffering from polio .
